Our Story

In February of 2020 a group of local climbers got together to discuss the start of something new in Jasper. The goal was to bring a vibrant community together. These discussions led to the creation of an association to support a diverse climbing community, host events, organize socials, improve safety at climbing areas, and educate the community on climbing systems and safe practices.

Like many Jasperites, Brooklyn honed her climbing skills on the polished limestone of the Ontario's Niagara escarpment, so feels right at home at many of the Jasper crags. Guaranteed to give ACMG certified soft catches, good beta and lots of compliments. She is a local strava legend and holds the undisputed record for most sends of Rock Garden's Bandaid Box.

Matt started climbing with the Varsity Outdoor Club (VOC) in 2013, while attending UBC. His involvement with the VOC includes board member, managing backcountry huts and leading trips, all while getting his Bachelor’s degree in Earth and Ocean science. Matt came to Jasper in 2018 working with Parks Canada in wildlife management and visitor safety. Matt is excited for the opportunity to give back to Jasper’s climbing community to help maintain our crag’s with a focus on safety and keeping them clean. You can find Matt at his best in the alpine environment enjoying rock, snow and ice on the exposed ridges. When you meet him, ask him about his climbs in the Roger’s Pass area.

Also known as “Frank the Tank”, “Coach Frank”, and the guidebook author, Frank has been a recognized member of the Jasper climbing community since 2014. While he loves all types of climbing, Frank is a sport rat at heart, and he prefers the local limestone for its varied forms and styles. When not climbing, Frank spends much of his time developing and improving crags throughout the Jasper area – make sure to thank him for all his hard work the next time you see him!
